Even as early as the 1960s, breast cancer was a rising concern among women in Singapore. The number of breast cancer cases rose sharply and significantly straight to the 90s.
Mrs. Catherine Ng was among the few survivors who triumphed over the disease. Two things she learnt: breast cancer was not incurable; support during recovery was vital.
With her real life experience, Catherine decided that she would offer breast cancer patients the support they needed to overcome this malignancy.
In 1997, Breast Cancer Foundation (BCF) was founded. The self-funded agency was dedicated to combating breast cancer in Singapore.
More importantly, BCF was set up to bring hope & support to patients & their families.
Through talks, campaigns, and publications, we educate the local community on breast cancer and the importance of early detection.
We provide a wide range of programmes to help patients and caregivers stay socially active and live confidently.
We run Singapore’s first Breast Cancer Support Centre @ Khoo Teck Puat hospital, where patients get private advice.
Our logo symbolises love and compassion, featuring 2 ribbons: pink for the breast cancer survivor and grey for the caregiver, reflecting the heart of our mission.
The BCF Constitution sets out the mission, structure, and governance of the Foundation, a registered charity in Singapore dedicated to supporting the breast cancer community.
