From humble beginnings in 1997 to becoming a beacon of hope for thousands, BCF’s journey is marked by relentless advocacy, groundbreaking programs, and transformative milestones.

1997 - 2000: Founding and pioneering initiatives

  • BCF was officially registered as a society on September 30, 1997, and approved as a charity on October 22, 1997.
  • Ms. Yu-Foo Yee Shoon became BCF Patron, and Mrs. Fang Ai Lian appointed as BCF’s first President.
  • Introduced key initiatives such as the Men’s Support League, the inaugural Pink Ribbon Ball, and the “Walking Abreast” Walkathon.
  • Held 1st Awareness Talk and started support groups in English, Mandarin, and for expats.
  • Organized Pink Ribbon Parade, Charity Draw, Tee For Pink Charity Golf, and Pink Ribbon Charity Concert.
  • Unveiled “Wear The Pink Ribbon” Campaign and tagline “Early Detection Saves Lives, Saves Breasts.”

2001 - 2005: Building awareness and empowering communities

  • Organized Pink Ribbon Car Parade and Fun For Fund Gala with the People’s Action Party (PAP) Women’s Wing, raising awareness and support.
  • Spearheaded creative campaigns: Comfort Taxi messages, Bras For A Cause, and Spot The Pink Ribbon Contest, driving public engagement.
  • Launched Asia’s 1st Dragon Boat Team for breast cancer survivors and the 1st Malay Support Group, empowering communities.
  • Hosted Gift of Music Concert and dialect public forums, fostering education and outreach.
  • Revamped Positive Appearance Room and Mammobus programme, while engaging younger audiences through innovative Zocards campaigns.

2006 - 2010: Expanding advocacy, celebrating survivorship

  • BCF’s Paddlers In The Pink took 1st place in 2 categories at the IBCPC Breast Cancer Dragon Boat World Championships.
  • Screened At My Mother’s Breast and Pink Paddlers, the first local documentary on breast cancer survivors, to raise awareness.
  • Handed over the Mammobus Project to the National Healthcare Group and launched the Young Women’s Support Group.
  • Marked BCF’s 10th anniversary with events like the Pink Ribbon Drive, Pink Charity Bazaar, and Sing For A Cause.
  • Hosted the inaugural Survivors’ Conference and Pink Ribbon Walk & Run, featuring Pink Light-Up initiatives at The Arts House and Tangs Plaza.
  • “Are You Obsessed With The Right Things?” campaign won international accolades, including Cannes Lions and Effie Awards.
  • Mrs. Noor Quek became BCF’s 2nd President, furthering leadership in breast cancer advocacy.

2011 - 2015: A decade of amplification and uniting communities

  • Organized Pink Waves Party, Pink Wave Charity Dinner, and Mission Pink Possible Men Outreach events.
  • Launched the “Treasure The Breast Things In Life!” BCAM campaign and set a Singapore Book of Records achievement for the Largest Pink Glove Dance.
  • Celebrated BCF’s 15th Anniversary with new logo, the BEAM15 mammogram sponsorship for low-income women, and the BCF theme song, ‘You Make Me A Warrior.’
  • Expanded public engagement with Pink Light-Up initiatives at Singapore Flyer, Art Science Museum, Helix Bridge, and Merlion at Sentosa, in partnership with Estee Lauder Group of Companies.
  • Strengthened international ties with a visit to the China Cancer Foundation in Beijing and acquired a new boat for BCF Paddlers In The Pink.
  • Opened a new office and activity centre at Leisure Park Kallang, enhancing BCF’s capabilities and support for members.

2016 - 2022: Recent impact and milestones
